For the concert, my first song that I would like the band to play is Treasure by Bruno Mars. I like the song because it incorporates a lot of percussion parts and sounds like the original song. It suits our strengths because it incorporates a lot of trumpet melody and since our trumpet section is big, it would give us a full sound. This song will challenge us because we really have to articulate the dynamics in order to have a successful performance. Dynamics was one of our weaker points during festival.
For the 2nd song, I would like the band to play Dark Knight Rises arranged by Ralph Ford. I like this song because it has many different tempos and is played very fast at times. It is also from my favorite movie. It incorporates our strengths because the flutes get a good chunk of the melody and we have a strong flute section. Also, the percussion part is quite varied and the skills of our percussion section exemplify that trait. It will challenge us because during the quieter sections, we will have to learn to keep the same tempo. There is also lots of quick dynamic changes so we have to prepare for those sections.
